Back in 2020, the founders of ISTIA Maritime Co. decided to proceed with an asset buy-out and took their separate way from the family-owned shipping business, founded by the late Michael Ghiokas, George Sklavounos and Byron Tomazos in 1970. Although freshly established, ISTIA carries a lot of history and expertise. Personnel ashore and the Crew aboard can look back into a common positive record of more than 20 years in managing and operating bulk carriers.

It is this record and reputation that allowed all stakeholders to embrace ISTIA immediately after inception. Financiers, Insurance companies, P&I clubs and key suppliers have from day one shown their trust and their active support in the new venture. Staff ashore and Crew met again under a new brand, and continued to do what they know best:

We are one of the few companies of our size that can produce Quarterly Financial Reports.

  • We always strive to maintain our good financial position and enhance our relationship with our financiers. As we do with our clients, we are honoring our long-standing relationship with our financiers and never follow an opportunistic approach with the financing of our new projects.
